"You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You’re on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who’ll decide where to go…"

"You know you’re in love when you can’t sleep because reality is finally better than your dreams."
Dr. Seuss
Yeah, I think this just about sums it up.

"Maybe you just misplaced it, you know? It’s been there. But you haven’t been looking in the right spot. Because lost means forever, it’s gone. But misplaced… that mean’s it’s still around, somewhere. Just not where you thought."

"Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by it’s ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing it is stupid."

"Look at you. You’re young. And you’re scared. Why are you so scared? Stop being paralyzed. Stop swallowing your words. Stop caring what other people think. Wear what you want. Say what you want. Listen to the music you want to listen to. Play it loud as fuck and dance to it. Go out for a drive at midnight and forget that you have school the next day. Stop waiting for Friday. Live now. Do it now. Take risks. Tell secrets. This life is yours. When are you going to realize that you can do whatever you want?"

I’m pretty sure I’ve talked about him before, but Randy Pausch is one of the most inspirational human beings I think I’ve ever heard of. What’s so great about him, I think, is that he is so normal. He’s obviously very smart, and he has definitely done really cool things in his life, but no one would be giving him a second glance if he did not handle the tragedy of cancer the way he did. He’s an ordinary family man who faced a great difficulty with extraordinary strength, personality, and positive attitude.
If you’ve never heard of The Last Lecture, you should really look into it. It’s a speech entitled “Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams” that he gave at Carnegie Mellon University when he knew he had only months to live . He then wrote a book based on the principles listed in the speech. The above video is a very brief version of the speech that he gave on Oprah, but it hits all of my favorite points just the same. If you have time, I strongly encourage you to watch the full speech (it can be found on youtube), but at least take the time to watch the 10 minute video shown here. I promise you, you won’t regret it.

"There is a saying that to understand is to forgive, but that is an error, so Papa used to say. You must forgive in order to understand. Until you forgive, you defend yourself against the possibility of understanding."
